Introduction to the Digital Camera

This workshop for beginners demystifies the digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, or similar mirror-less devices.
Participants will explore more than the nitty-gritty of their equipment to get the most out of it, including the many functions that a digital SLR or mirror-less camera shares with a traditional film camera and how to use them to create the best possible image.
Topics covered include the various exposure modes (Auto, Program, Aperture and Shutter Priority, Manual); controlling focus; selecting and formatting memory cards; creative use of depth-of-field and shutter speeds; important Menu items; the many ways to use the LCD screen; Live View; white balance; and JPEG vs. RAW file formats.
Learn how to use all the settings and functions of your camera while you practice is an taking digital photographs in class, and review numerous examples that illustrate how different camera settings can affect the final image.
